The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) signed a $10 million investment contract with Chinese firm Haiyan Ximei to establish a state-of-the-art packaging and labeling facility in the industrial zone of Qantara West.
The agreement was signed by SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien and Weiguo Wang, Chairman of Haiyan Ximei, during an official ceremony attended by senior representatives from both sides.
The facility, set to be constructed on a 30,000 square meter plot, will provide direct employment for 160 workers and aims to export 70% of its output while also serving the increasing number of textile and garment factories under development in Qantara West.
"This project marks a key step in deepening localized industrial supply chains and reducing Egypt's dependence on imported intermediate goods," said Waleid Gamal El-Dien. He emphasized that SCZONE is actively working to build a fully integrated industrial ecosystem for the textile and apparel sector, including accessories, dyeing, printing, and packaging, in alignment with Egypt’s broader national development strategy.
By fostering such ecosystems, SCZONE hopes to lower production costs, enhance global competitiveness, and facilitate access to international markets through its unique integration of industrial zones with nearby seaports.
According to SCZONE’s latest figures, Qantara West has attracted 40 investment projects across various industrial and logistics sectors, particularly in textiles and garments. These projects span a total area of over 2.47 million square meters and represent combined investments of $1.05 billion, generating more than 55,800 direct jobs to date.
"The growing interest from international investors is a testament to our investor-friendly policies, integrated logistics network, and availability of skilled labor," Gamal El-Dien added.
Haiyan Ximei, a specialist in high-tech textile labeling and packaging, brings cutting-edge innovations to the Egyptian market, including Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies. These enable non-contact tracking and digital labeling of garment products, enhancing traceability and supply chain efficiency.
The company’s product range includes color cards, boxes and PDQ displays, bellybands, hangtags, woven and washing labels, stickers and adhesive labels.
It also provides technical and design support, including dieline templates and production optimization tools.
The majority of Haiyan Ximei’s production in Egypt is slated for export, aligning with Egypt’s vision to transform SCZONE into a regional manufacturing and export powerhouse.
