CBE: Currency Issued Exceeds EGP 767 Billion by End of Q1

The Central Bank of Egypt revealed that the currency issued by categories amounted to EGP 767.07 billion at the end of Q1 of 2022, compared to EGP 747.79 billion in Q4 of 2021, an increase of EGP EGP 19.27 billion within 3 months.

The bank’s monthly statistical bulletin showed that the 200-pound denomination note recorded EGP 511.4 billion of the total issued currency, while the 100-pound denomination note accounted to EGP 208.3 billion in Q1 of 2022.

It is worth noting that domestic liquidity recorded EGP 6.280 trillion at the end of March, compared to EGP 5.876 trillion last year, while the money supply amounted to EGP 1.469 trillion.
