The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) decided to suspend all banks operating in Egypt on Thursday, October 21, on the occasion of the Prophet’s birthday “Mawlid al-Nabawi”.
"Banks will resume work on Sunday, October 24," CBE said in a statement on Sunday.
An official source at the Stock Exchange also announced that Thursday will be considered as an official holiday.
The Egyptian Prime Minister issued a decision that Thursday, October 21 will be considered a paid public holiday for employees of ministries, government departments, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies and business sector companies.
