This morning, the Japanese Ministry of Health confirmed the existence of a third case of the new corona virus. The ministry explained that a woman in her 30s, lived in the Chinese city of Wuhan, where the virus appeared, had arrived in Japan on January 18 and recently proved virus carrier.

The death toll from the spread of the Coronavirus in China rose to 41 yesterday from 26 a day earlier. More than 1,300 people have been infected with the virus worldwide.

The new Corona virus caused concern because it is largely unknown in terms of how dangerous and how easily it can be transmitted between people. The virus can cause fatal pneumonia in some cases.

Symptoms include high fever, difficulty breathing, and coughing.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said most of the deaths were elderly, and many were suffering from other diseases.

In Malaysia, the authorities announced today the first three confirmed cases of the Corona virus. Minister of Health YB Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said that the three infected people are Chinese and have a close relationship with the 66-year-old man, who has been confirmed by Singapore health authorities as a virus carrier.

The Malaysia Airports Authority said in a separate statement that it had strengthened screening of all passengers and crews arriving from China at major airports across the country to reduce the possibility of the virus spreading.

The virus has also been detected in Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Nepal, the United States and Australia.

The French authorities announced the first confirmed cases of the virus in Europe on Friday evening.

In Beijing, the National Health Committee said in a statement that the total number of confirmed cases of the virus in China is now 1287, while all the new deaths occurred in Wuhan, the virus outbreak center that was virtually isolated health as China accelerated to contain the spread of the virus.

Health officials believe the virus originally started in a market in Wuhan, where wild animals are trafficked illegally.

WHO announced that the new Corona virus represented a "state of emergency in China" but declined to declare it an international concern. But the virus continued to spread globally.

The authorities have effectively closed down the city of Wuhan, the capital of Hubei, a city of 11 million people. Nearly all flights at Wuhan Airport were canceled and main road access points outside the city were closed.

The authorities imposed a similar closure on more than a dozen other cities near Wuhan as part of ongoing containment efforts.

With Wuhan isolated, supplies began to run out of pharmacies, and hospitals overcrowded with anxiety. Official media reported that the city is hurrying to build a 1,000-bed hospital to be ready by Monday.

Health authorities in Hubei said yesterday that 658 people who had contracted the virus were being treated, 57 of them in serious condition.

Airports around the world have beefed screening for travelers from China, although some health officials and experts have questioned the feasibility of such checks and isolation operations. In Shanghai, China, all cinemas were closed during the Lunar New Year holidays that run until January 30.
