CAPMAS: Number of Females over Males Increased by 100,000

Government data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed an increase in the number of the female population over males last August; the total female population reached about 48.9 million, compared to 48 million in the same month of 2109, with an increase of about 900,000 women.

The data issued by the CAPMAS revealed that the total number of males reached 51.9 million last August, compared to 51.1 million in the same month in 2019, an increase of 800,000 males, a difference of 100,000 people have decreased the size of the increase in the female population.

The size of the natural increase (the difference between births and deaths) decreased from 1.822 million people in 2018 to 1.734 million people in 2019, a decline of 88,000 people.

The CAPMAS data revealed that the rate of population increase declined from 1.9% during 2018 to 1.8%. during the year 2019, a decrease of 1%, and the governorates of Sohag, Assiut, Qena, Minya and Beni Suef witnessed the highest rates of population increase during 2019, reaching 2.4, 2.4, 2.3, 2.3, 2.2%, respectively, while the governorates of Port Said, Cairo, Alexandria, Damietta, Dakahlia, witnessed the lowest population growth rate during 2019, reaching "1%, 1.2%, 1.3%, 1.4%, 1.4%."
