CAPMAS; Egypt, Cyprus and Greece Trade Exchange Hit $1.71 Billion

The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued a report on the economic relations between Egypt and Cyprus, as well as the economic relations between Egypt and Greece.

Value of trade exchange between Egypt and Cyprus

Data from CAPMAS revealed, Wednesday, that the value of trade exchange between Egypt and Cyprus reached $217 million during the first 11 months of 2024, compared to $108 million, year-on-year.

Value of Egyptian exports to Cyprus

The value of Egyptian exports to Cyprus amounted to $181 million during the first 11 months of 2024, compared to $96 million, year-on-year.

Value of Egyptian imports from Cyprus

While the value of Egyptian imports from Cyprus amounted to $36 million during the first 11 months of 2024, compared to $12 million, year-on-year.

The most important commodity groups Egypt exports  to Cyprus

Iron and steel worth $92 million.

Fertilizers worth $43 million.

Paper worth $8 million.

Creditors worth $6 million.

The most important commodity groups Egypt imports from Cyprus

Fuel and mineral oils worth $28 million.

Electrical machinery and devices worth $4 million.

Pharmaceutical products worth $1 million.

Remittances of Egyptians working in Cyprus

The value of remittances of Egyptians working in Cyprus amounted to $14.4 million during the fiscal year 2023/24 compared to $13.5 million during the FY2022/23.

The value of remittances of Cypriots working in Egypt amounted to $950,000 during the fiscal year 2023/24 compared to $970,000 during the FY2022/23.

The value of Cypriot investments in Egypt

The value of Cypriot investments in Egypt amounted to $114.6 million during the fiscal year 2023/24, compared to $35.2 million during FY2022/23.

The value of Egyptian investments in Cyprus

While the value of Egyptian investments in Cyprus amounted to $40 million during the fiscal year 2023/24, compared to $17.3 million during the fiscal year 2022/23.

The number of Egyptians in Cyprus, according to the mission's estimates, reached 4,000 Egyptians by the end of 2023.

CAPMAS Data also revealed that the value of trade exchange between Egypt and Greece reached $1.5 billion during the first 11 months of 2024, compared to $1.8 billion, year-on-year.

The value of Egyptian exports to Greece amounted to one billion dollars during the first 11 months of 2024, compared to $1.3 billion, year-on-year.

Value of Egyptian imports from Greece

The value of Egyptian imports from Greece amounted to $530 million during the first 11 months of 2024, compared to $523 million during the same period in 2023.

The most important commodity groups Egypt exports to Greece

Fuel, mineral oils and their distillation products worth $610 million.

Fertilizers worth $92 million.

Vegetables and fruits worth $84 million.

Plastics and their products worth $46 million.

Iron and steel worth $33 million.

The most important commodity groups imported from Greece

Fuel, mineral oils and their distillation products worth $274 million.

Cotton worth $120 million.

Fruits and vegetables worth $44 million.

Tobacco worth $15 million.

Electrical machinery and appliances worth $15 million.

Remittances of Egyptians working in Greece

The value of remittances of Egyptians working in Greece amounted to $15 million during the fiscal year 2023/24 compared to $14.3 million during the fiscal year 2022/23.

Remittances of Greeks working in Egypt

While the value of remittances of Greeks working in Egypt amounted to $3.4 million during the fiscal year 2023/24 compared to $2.7 million during the fiscal year 2022/23.

Value of Greek investments in Egypt

The value of Greek investments in Egypt amounted to $13.9 million during the fiscal year 2023/2024 compared to $6.7 million during the fiscal year 2022/2023.

Value of Egyptian investments in Greece

The value of Egyptian investments in Greece amounted to $1 million during the fiscal year 2023/24 compared to $700,000 during the fiscal year 2022/23.

The number of Egyptians in Greece, according to the mission's estimates, reached 40,000 Egyptians until the end of 2023.
