The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Monday that Cairo's derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek has been postponed for 60 minutes.

In a statement, the EFA said that the center referee of the game decided to hold the game at 20:30 CLT Instead of 19:30 CLT, due to the heavy rains, which splashed out across Egypt's capital Cairo.

Earlier, some reports said that Zamalek decided to play the Cairo’s derby against Al Ahly with the second class team.

On Sport channel, which has the exclusive right to broadcast the Egyptian Premier League matches, reported that the White Knights’ board of directors decided to send the second class team and some players from the first team to play the match against the Red Devils.

Earlier, the Egyptian channel asserted that Cairo Stadium is ready for hosting the encounter, despite the heavy rain, which splashed across Egypt’s capital Cairo.

Zamalek head coach Patrice Carteron asserted earlier that his club would not play the Egyptian League derby against Al Ahly till now.

Regarding the cancellation of today’s training session, the French coach refused to comment on that matter.

On Sunday, Zamalek board of directors, chaired by Mortada Mansour decided not to resume the ongoing Egyptian Premier League season.

“The club will not play any matches in the Egyptian league in the presence of the Current EFA’s normalization committee headed by Amr El-Ganainy,” the White Knights’ board of directors said in a statement.

This decision came in response to the recent penalties imposed by the disciplinary committee of the EFA on a number of Al-Ahly and Zamalek players, due to the clashes, which broke out after the Super Cup match.

It is worth mentioning Zamalek managed to lift their fourth Super Cup title after defeating Al Ahly 4-3 on penalties.
