The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is scheduled to hold the draw of the 2019-20 Champions League group stage on Wednesday. The draw for the Champions League is set to be held at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
Egypt’s Al Ahly qualified for the last 32 after demolishing Etlaa Bara with thirteen unanswered goals on aggregate. The Red Devils reached the group stage after smashing Cano Sport with six clean goals on aggregate.
While CAF decided on Tuesday to restage the Champions League match between Egypt’s Zamalek and Senegal’s Generation Foot in Cairo, on Thursday, October 24.
The Whites were due to host the Senegalese side at Cairo’s Petro Sport Stadium on Saturday, September 29, but the match was moved to Alexandria’s Borg Al Arab Stadium a day later due to claimed security reasons presented by Zamalek in an official letter to CAF.
The crisis sparkled after the Senegalese club refused to head to Alexandria, and they withdrew from the White Knights’ encounter in the second leg of the last 32.
The sixteen teams, who qualified for the group stage were pided into four levels for four groups. The first and second teams of each group will advance automatically to the last eight of the tournament.
The Four Levels are as follows:
1st: Esperance of Tunisia (Tunisia), TP Mazembe (DR Congo), Wydad Athletic Club (Morocco), Al Ahly (Egypt)
2nd: Etoile du Sahel (Tunisia), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Zamalek (Egypt) or Generation Foot (Senegal), Raja Club Athletic (Morocco)
3rd: USM Alger (Algeria), ZESCO United F.C (Zambia), AS Vita (DR Congo), Al-Hilal (Sudan)
4th: C.D. Primeiro de Agosto (Angola), Platinum (Zimbabwe), Petro Atletico( Angola), JS Kabylie (Algeria)
