The Confederation of the African Football (CAF) on Saturday decided to postpone the CAF Champions League semi-(CL) finals encounters until further notice because of coronavirus pandemic.
The CAF Emergency Committee postponed the Champions League (CL) and Confederation Cup (CC) semi-finals, due to take place in May, until further notice.
"In light of growing concerns and evolving nature on COVID-19 amidst lockdown in most countries, the CAF Emergency Committee has decided to postpone the following matches until further notice," the Committee said in a statement.
It also postponed IFA Women's U-17 World Cup Qualifiers.
The Emergency Committee added that the new dates would be announced in due time.
"A new schedule will be announced in due time," the statement read.
"Meanwhile, CAF is monitoring the situation closely and working with the relevant authorities such as the Wealth Health Organization (WHO) on the impact of the virus on the continent," it concluded.
Egypt’s Zamalek are set to clash against Raja, while the Egyptian Giants Al Ahly are set to face Wydad.
Coronavirus has affected many sports events around the world; many countries suspended their league and matches due to the virus concerns, which claimed the lives of thousands of people.
It is worth mentioning that hat newly-built Japoma Stadium in the Cameroonian city of Douala has been chosen to host the CAF Champions League one-match final.
CAF Executive Committee decided, during its meeting last June, that the Interclub competitions of Champions League and Confederation finals would be played on a single game.
