British Defense Sec. Visits Ukraine, Signs Ships, Missiles Agreement

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky received British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, who is visiting Kiev, where they signed a military cooperation agreement, amid alleged Western fears of "Russian military movements near the border with Ukraine.

In a statement issued after their meeting, the Ukrainian president welcomed the framework agreement concluded between the two sides, which allows his country to benefit from British funding to enhance its naval military capabilities, including the purchase of missiles and the construction of missile ships and a naval base on the Sea of ​​Azov.

The British government confirmed, earlier this week, its "unwavering" support for Ukraine, saying it would support Kiev in the face of "Russian hostility."

London also affirmed opposition to the "Northern Stream 2" pipeline project to transport Russian gas to Europe.

Ukraine and North Atlantic Treaty Organization ( NATO) countries have expressed concerns about alleged movements of Russian forces near Ukraine's borders.
