President Mokgweetsi Masisi witnessed the event and praised the satellite’s role in environmental monitoring, boosting agricultural production, improving disaster response and urban planning, and reinforcing Botswana’s position as an emerging player in space technology.
Botsat-1 is designed to support several critical sectors, including scientific research, environmental and climate change, and telecommunications.
With this project, Botswana aims to join other African nations like South Africa and Nigeria in leveraging space technology for sustainable development.
This achievement was the result of strategic partnerships between the Botswana government and international research institutions, alongside technical support from specialized satellite technology organizations.
