Book Review: 'The Jews of Ancient Egypt,' by Sherif Shaban

The book is the first of its kind, which deals with the history of the Jews and their relationship with ancient Egyptians, beginning with the appearance of Abraham, and his stay in Egypt, then the settlement of Jacob and his sons in Egypt under the auspices of Joseph, then the first and great exodus by Moses.

Then the book turns to the journey of the Jews through Sinai, revelations at biblical Mount Sinai, and their wanderings in the wilderness up to the borders of Canaan and establishing the first assembling, represented in the period of the biblical of the judges.

Afterwards, we move to another important period of Jewish history which is the United Monarchy is the name given to the Israelite kingdom of Israel during the reigns of Saul, then the golden age of King David and his son Solomon, revealing the secrets of Solomon’s first temple and its treasures, then the separate into the kingdoms of Judah and Israel.

We notice the alliance that was made between ancient Egypt and the ancient kingdom of Israel Against the great powers of Babylon and Assyria.

The book sheds light on an important period of the Israelite settlement in Egypt especially in Elephantine island, Diaries, and monuments of the Jewish community in that region, and its relations with the Egyptians, especially under the Persian occupation.

In light of that trip, we discover the review of the political, economic, and social conditions of the Israelites, and their pergent relationship with the Egyptians throughout ancient history.

The book also reveals some important secrets about the relation between the Jews and the pyramids, the secrets of the exodus, and the arch of convenience.

The book includes a collection of rare photos which show the monuments and manuscripts of the Israelites in ancient Egypt and Levant, in addition to the various maps that illustrate their journey in and out of Egypt and the kingdoms of Judah and ancient Israel.
