The Belgian government's net debt amounted to €501.4 billion at the end of last June, according to the Belgian Federal Debt Agency.

The agency said in a statement that in terms of net value (after deducting investments and securities in the portfolio), the federal government’s debt increased by €4.02 billion compared to May.

The Belgian government's debt exceeded $500 billion in March for the first time, before falling below it again in April.

The agency explained that in terms of total value, Belgian debt is still higher than half a trillion euros at 521.609 billion euros, which represents a decrease of €11.50 billion since last May.

The average interest rate on debt instruments remained stable at 1.94%, while refinancing risks for 12 and 60 months reached 13.74% and 38.12%, respectively.
