Egyptologist and archaeologist Dr. Hussein Bassir announced that Egypt is preparing a submission file to register Pharaoh's Island on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Bassir pointed out that Alexandria is also preparing a submission file for itself as well for it to be registered on the UNESCO list.

He stressed on the need to be active in this file as there are many Egyptian archaeological sites that deserve to be registered.

The Egyptologist added that there are many valuable monuments in Alexandria, Fayoum, Bahariya Oasis, Dakhla and Kharga, Siwa that deserve to be registered in UNESCO.

Bassir pointed out that it is peculiar that Alexandria does not have any registered site at time where countries that do not have our history always seeks to register sites despite its historical value is not comparable to any Egyptian site, and we have many, however, a good file must be prepared for UNESCO, one that meets its full terms.
