Dr. Mostafa El Feki, the director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), received today Laurent Coulon, the new director of the French Institute for Oriental Archaeology, alongside his delegation.

On his side, El Feki asserted the depth of Egyptian-French ties, reflecting his appreciation to Jean-François Champollion’s role in translating Rosetta Stone’s inscriptions.

In the same context, El Feki expressed the BA’s will to organize a collaborative celebration with the French Institute for Oriental Archaeology, and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Champollion’s discoveries.

He was most celebrated with translating and identifying the Ancient Egyptian language on the Rosette Stone by comparing the Egyptian one to other ancient languages which introduced to the world the Egyptian civilization.

BA director highlighted that the library has a copy from the stone and it will be distributed everywhere alongside organizing workshops between BA, Tourism and Antiquities Ministry, and the French Institute for Oriental Archaeology.

He described that this event will strengthen the tight cultural relations between Egypt and France.

Finally, El Feki gifted Coulon a copy from “France Archaelog in Egypt.”
