AU Determined to Achieve Economic Renaissance: Sisi

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe took part earlier today Thursday in Africa-Japan business forum held on the sidelines of The 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7).

In his word before the forum, Sisi confirmed that this platform is one of the most important axes of cooperation between the private sector in Africa and Japan.

He added that African countries are seeking to translate economic reform policies into operational programs that would bring about a real transformation in peoples' lives.

Moreover, the Egyptian president stressed that the last months have witnessed a number of important steps within the framework of African Union (AU) efforts towards sustainable development and the creation of better a investment environment, foremost of which; the launch of the 1st African governance report during the 32nd ordinary session of the AU assembly in February 2019, as well as the launch of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) operational phase in Niger, in July 2019.

 

In addition, he noted that AU is well aware that reform, modernization and the implementation of the ambitious 2063 development agenda would not be succeeded without raising the efficiency and the development of infrastructure in the African continent through establishing giant cross-border projects.

Moreover, Sisi invited all Africa’s partners to take advantage of the black continent great potentials and available investment opportunities, and to contribute to the implementation of roads, railways, electrical connection, and ports development projects.

Egypt's head of state ended up his word by saying that the AU is determined to achieve its economic renaissance.
