CAIRO, AUG 25 (SEE)- Hamdi Ibrahim Bashir, Director General of the Aswan Botanical Garden said that the total number of visitors to the park during Eid al-Adha was 3500, including 3125 Egyptian visitors and 375 tourists with total revenues of about EGP 23,125.
Bashir pointed out that high temperatures led to a decline in the number of visitors to the famous Botanic Garden during the days of Eid.
Deputy director general of the park Gamal el-Orouba said that the botanical garden is one of the most attractive sites that enjoy a great number of visitors, especially during national holidays.
The park was previously known as Kitchener's Island, named after English Consul-General in Egypt Lord Kitchener.
It includes the world's rarest plant species and is one of the most famous historical parks in the governorate, dating back more than 115 years.
