Egyptian actress Hannah El Zahed is no longer involved in actor Ahmed Helmy's play "Memo" staged in Egypt since the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
Asmaa Galal has been tapped to serve as El Zahed's replacement after she parted ways with the play due to being busy shooting her latest film "Restart", starring Tamer Hosny.
Galal took to Instagram to share her excitement about collaborating with Helmy, saying: "See you all tonight. Super excited to be working with this legend @ahmedhelmy."
"Memo" witnessed the acclaimed actor’s first time to appear on stage in 21 years as he made his last participation in a theatrical production in 2001’s play, “Hakim Oyoun”.
The play Memo is scheduled to continue to be staged on weekends during the summer period.
The cast also stars Hamdy Al Marghany, Rahma Ahmed, Nour Ehab, Mohamed Radwan, Ahmed Sultan, and the child Abdul Rahman.
"Memo" is scripted by Mohamed Diaa, directed by Hisham Atwa, and produced by Craft Media and Hamdy Badr.
The play was first staged on February 20, 2023, during the activities of the Riyadh season, in Saudi Arabia.
The first run starred El Zahed, Hana Shiha, Ahmed Rizk, Hamdy Al Marghany, Mohamed Radwan, and others.
