Coinciding with Armenia’s Independence Day, the Armenian Studies Center at Cairo University announced the release of a new book titled “Armenian Tales”, a collection of selected works from Armenian literature and folklore.

The initiative underscores the center’s role as a bridge for cultural dialogue and its commitment to promoting academic research and strengthening cultural exchange between Egypt and Armenia.

The announcement was made through the center’s official page, highlighting the importance of the project as part of the ongoing collaboration between the two nations’ cultural and academic communities.

The publication, released under the patronage of Professor Naglaa Raafat Salem, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University, and supervised by Professor Dina Fathi Abdelhady, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, represents a collective achievement by students of the Armenian Studies Center.

The team, Kholoud Yacoub, Yehia Ahmed Labib, and Mohamed Ibrahim Timsah, undertook the translation of the selected texts from Armenian into Arabic, under the academic supervision of Armini Hakobyan, a lecturer in the Armenian language at the center.

“Armenian Tales” features excerpts from the works of prominent Armenian literary figures such as Hovhannes Tumanyan, Ghazaros Aghayan, and Vardan Aykegtsi, as well as selections from the writings of the renowned Armenian historian Movses Khorenatsi.

According to the center, the project aims to introduce Arabic readers to the richness of Armenian cultural heritage and to foster deeper understanding between the Egyptian and Armenian peoples.

“This publication is not just a literary endeavor; it is a message of friendship and mutual respect that highlights the shared values of cultural diversity and dialogue,” said a statement by the Armenian Studies Center.

The launch of “Armenian Tales” marks a new milestone in the center’s mission to promote cross-cultural scholarship and celebrate the enduring ties between Egypt and Armenia.
