Argentine Economy Minister Martin Guzman announced his resignation in a letter to President Alberto Fernandez, after he had held office since December 2019.

In his letter, the minister said, "I am writing to you to submit my resignation from the position of Minister of Economy," without giving reasons for his step, but informed sources indicated that he "often clashed with the Al-Biruni Judicial Party."

Guzmán stressed "the need for those who replace him to be able to work within the framework of a political agreement within the government coalition."

He considered that "continuing to strengthen the macroeconomic base, including money, monetary and exchange rate policies, is essential in an economy that suffers from inflation exceeding 60% within one year and a depreciation in the value of the peso."
