The Arab League has reaffirmed its categorical rejection of all forms of forced displacement of the Palestinian people, warning against any attempts to alter the demographic composition of the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

In a resolution issued following an emergency meeting held at the League’s General Secretariat on Wednesday, the council stressed that displacement policies and demographic engineering constitute a grave violation of international law and effectively destroy prospects for achieving a just and lasting peace.

The council called on the international community, foremost the UN Security Council, to adopt deterrent and punitive measures against Israel, the occupying power, to halt annexation plans, colonial settlement expansion, and ongoing violations that threaten regional security and stability.

The resolution also urged the President of the United States to honor commitments related to supporting peace efforts, and to take clear, practical steps to prevent the annexation of the occupied West Bank, as a means of restoring regional stability.

On the legal front, the Arab League called on the International Criminal Court and other international justice mechanisms to pursue accountability and prosecute Israeli officials responsible for crimes and violations committed against the Palestinian people, their land, and holy sites.

The council further condemned Israeli attacks on the Ibrahimi Mosque in the occupied city of Hebron, describing them as an assault on its religious and historical status. It called on the international community to uphold relevant UNESCO resolutions, take necessary measures to protect the city and its holy places, and restore the Ibrahimi Mosque to its historical and legal status prior to occupation-era measures.

The Arab League concluded by reiterating that safeguarding Palestinian rights, territory, and holy sites is essential to preserving regional peace and preventing further escalation.
