Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit condemned a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting civilian infrastructure and state assets in Lebanon, warning that the attacks pose serious risks to civilians and regional stability.
In a statement issued by the League of Arab States, Aboul Gheit denounced strikes Mthat reportedly destroyed bridges and targeted residential areas in Beirut, describing them as attacks on civilian objects belonging to the Lebanese state.
He expressed full solidarity with Lebanon, noting that the Lebanese government is making efforts to avoid being drawn into the broader regional conflict.
Arab League spokesman Gamal Roshdy said the organization supports the Lebanese government’s decision to ban Hezbollah’s military and security activities and to consolidate the state’s exclusive authority over arms.
Roshdy also criticized what he described as Israeli plans to reoccupy Lebanese territories, calling them unacceptable and warning that such actions could further undermine stability and complicate Lebanon’s efforts to assert state authority.
