The Arab Authority for Blood Transfusion Services, under the Arab Council of Health Ministers, held its 23rd annual meeting on October 19, 2025, via videoconference. The session was organized by the Department of Health and Humanitarian Aid at the League of Arab States’ Social Affairs Sector.
Established in 1979, the Authority works to advance blood transfusion services across Arab countries by promoting collaboration, sharing expertise, and training healthcare professionals. Qatar has chaired the body since 2023.
The meeting’s agenda included announcing members of the Authority’s new Scientific Advisory Council, reviewing nominations for the Arab Award for Blood Transfusion Services, and discussing training requests from member states. Participants also reviewed reports from Jordan and Saudi Arabia on blood vigilance systems and preparations for the 15th Arab Blood Transfusion Medicine Conference, scheduled to be held in Kuwait from January 18–21, 2026.
