Anany Meets Belgian Ambassador

Minister of Tourism and Antiques Khaled El Anany on Sunday received the new Belgian Ambassador to Egypt François Cornet d’Elzius.

The meeting, that took place at the ministry’s headquarter, was d’Elzius’ first official meeting since handling his responsibilities as Belgium Ambassador to Egypt.

Asserting the strength of Egypt-Belgium ties, Anany initiated the meeting, welcoming d’Elzius and wishing him success. He also hoped to deepen the cooperation between two states during his term in Egypt.

During the meeting, both officials exchanged their views regarding enhancing the cooperation in the archaeological field; training museums stuff, archaeologists and restores, and exchanging experiences included. The meeting also tackled a talk about ways to increase Belgian tourists coming Egypt.

Moreover, both officials discuss the suggestion of organizing a temporary exhibition in Belgium dedicated to the Egyptian artifacts.

d’Elzius expressed his pleasure and impression for attending the latest discovery in Saqqara of discovering 59 closed colored coffins.

Finally, he emphasized his passion towards the previously mentioned archaeological discovery asserting his interest in attending the various activities held by the ministry especially the archaeological.
