Faraj Amer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Smouha SC  delivered an honoring club's shield to renowned archaeologist Zahi Hawass in recognition of his efforts in the field of Archeology.

Hawass delivered a speech regarding the secrets of ancient Egypt, including tombs' craftsmen, the construction of the pyramids and Wadi al-Jarf papyrus, the most remarkable discovery of the twentieth century, at Smouha SC in Alexandria.

During his discourse, Hawass addressed facts about royal mummies, the incident behind the death of King Tutankhamun and the plot of the harem, referring to the latest archaeological discoveries and excavation work in the Western Valley of the Kings including the quest for the tomb of Ankh Asen Amun.

Hawass confirmed that there is no such scientific term called "the curse of the pharaohs," explaining that the curse is primarily due to the rotten air and germs developed over thousands of years in the tombs, leading to the death of explorers.

"I was fond of the field of Egyptology since I first observed an archaeological statue," he said, emphasizing that creativity in the profession is not associated with the so-called "top-ranked universities.

Hawass cracked a joke, claiming that there is a papyrus pointing that the Pharaohs were supporters of Al-Ahly SC.

"Only 30 percent of ancient Egyptian antiquities have been discovered so far," the Archaeologist concluded.
