Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced that his country plans to increase wages by 53% by 2026/27, in addition to the former president’s commitment to increase them by 43% as part of an effort to improve the purchasing power of Algerians.

The Algerian government allocated 350 billion dinars, or $2.6 billion, in the 2023 budget to increase the wages of about 2.8 million employees.

The government also approved 578 billion dinars, or the equivalent of $4.3 billion, within the framework of the text of the 2024 Finance Law for wage increases.
