A live concert in commemoration of the 27th death anniversary of the late notable musician Sayed Mikawy will be held on Thursday night at the Opera House, under the patronage of Egypt’s Culture Ministry.
Under the direction of Maestro Abdel Hamid Ghafar, the Alexandria Opera House band will perform a selection of Sunbati’s remarkable songs and iconic pieces, reminding people of the legacy and spirit of the late singer and composer.
The concerts include pieces like ' Asel Alia Mara', 'Khlai Shwaia Alia', and 'Ya Msharni'.
Born on May 8, 1927, Mikawy was regarded as an Egyptian singer and composer, popular in Egypt and throughout the Arab world.
Throughout his life, he remained undaunted by modern innovations and the attempts of rivals to produce another type of music. He was also well-known for his radio collaboration with Fuad Haddad on the character of the Egyptian tradition of El-Misaharati.
