The Council of the Arab League has reiterated its firm rejection of any form of forced displacement of the Palestinian people from their land, warning against attempts to alter the demographic composition of the occupied Palestinian territories. The Council described such actions as a form of genocide, a grave violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, and a direct threat to efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, the Council also rejected the use of Somali territory as a platform for implementing what it described as aggressive Israeli schemes. It stressed its absolute opposition to any use of the territory of the Federal Republic of Somalia, or any part of it, by external actors as a base for hostile or intelligence activities targeting other states or undermining their security and stability.
The Council emphasized the importance of close coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, particularly in its capacity as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2025–2026 term. It called for mobilizing international support to issue UN resolutions affirming Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while rejecting what it described as Israeli recognition measures that it said are null and void and pose a threat to regional and international peace and security.
The Arab League also urged Arab ambassadors and diplomatic missions in major international capitals and organizations, including New York, Geneva, Vienna, Brussels, Addis Ababa, Washington, London, Paris, Beijing, and Moscow, to convey the contents of the statement to foreign ministries and relevant international bodies. The Council stressed the need to clarify the political and security risks posed by these actions to Somalia’s stability and to regional and global security.
In addition, the Council called on all states and international and regional organizations to refrain from any official or semi-official dealings with authorities in the northwestern Somali region known as “Somaliland” outside the framework of Somali sovereignty. It warned that any action undermining the territorial unity of the Federal Republic of Somalia would be considered a hostile act against Somalia and Arab and African states, constituting a violation of international law and entailing full international legal responsibility.
