Iraq’s Sunni Endowment Office: Al-Azhar Grand Imam promised to visit Baghdad soon

The Sunni Endowment Office in Iraq confirmed today, Saturday, that the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, promised to visit Iraq soon, in response to an official invitation extended to him by the Iraqi government.

The head of the Sunni Endowment Office, Dr. Saad Kampash said in a press statement, that he met during his visit to Egypt, with Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, and handed him two invitations to visit Baghdad.

He added, "The Sheikh of Al-Azhar promised to visit Iraq as soon as possible."

"The Iraqi government will invite Egyptian Minister of Endowments, the head of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad and the Grand Mufti of Egypt to visit Iraq," Kampash noted.
