Egyptian actor Ahmed Helmy revealed new details about his upcoming film with his wife, actress Mona Zaki.
In an interview with “NRJ Egypt” radio station, Helmy revealed that he will script and star in the pic.
The 53-year-old star had penned the script of two films, the first “Earus Wi Earisa” (Groom and Bride), and the second under the working title “Wish Wa Dahr”, which took 9 years to prepare and write.
Zaki previously shared that the upcoming production is a light romantic comedy, noting that the script has been completed.
The project marks the first collaboration between the beloved couple after an absence of 20 years. They last collaborated in the 2003 film "Sahar El Layaly".
During the interview, Helmy also revealed that he is currently preparing for his second book after his first rodeo, "28 Letters".
He also shared the reason behind his lack of interviews and media appearances, saying: "There is no reason for me to conduct many interviews. As long as there is nothing new, why should I annoy the audience."
Helmy, born on November 18, 1969, started his career in 1993 on the Egyptian Satellite Broadcast.
He made his acting debut in the 1998 acclaimed film “Aboud Ala El Hodoud” (Aboud on the Borders), co-starring with Alaa Waley El Din, and Karim Abdel Aziz.
Thereafter, Helmy quickly made a jump to leading roles in films such as “Omar 2000”, “El Nazer” (2000), “El Selem We Al Tho’ban” (2001), and "Sahar El Layali" (2003).
