Agriculture Spokesman: New Projects Add 2.9 Million Acres to Farmland Soon

Dr. Muhammad Al-Qirsh, a spokesman for the Ministry of Agriculture, said that the New Delta project aims to increase the agricultural area.

He added that there are several new agricultural projects, including the new Egyptian countryside, Sinai projects that will add 700 thousand feddans (Egyptian acres), along with the New Delta project of more than 2.2 million feddans.

Dr. Al-Qirsh affirmed, during a telephone conversation with the journalist Jaber Al-Qarmouti, anchor of "Min Misr-from Egypt" program broadcast on CBC space channel, that there are 2.2 million feddans in the new delta, to be added to the agricultural area in the coming period.

He pointed out that the new agricultural projects are integrated with facilities and support development plans.

Al-Qirsh went on to say that there is a plan to create cooperation among agricultural researchers and specialists to determine the type of soil in Egypt to grow crops suitable for weather conditions.

He revealed that 350,000 feddans have been cultivated, and it has a new yield and a new addition to the agricultural area.
