Emmy-winning actor Peter Scolari died on Friday at age 66 following a battle with cancer for two years, according to his manager, Ellen Lubin Sanitsky, at Wright Entertainment.
Scolari co-starred with Tom Hanks in ABC’s comedy “Bosom Buddies”, which brought the two actors together as friends to this date.
He was also known for his role in the CBS sitcom “Newhart,” which starred Bob Newhart as a Vermont innkeeper and aired from 1982-90.
The actor received an Emmy award for “Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series” in 2016 for his role, playing Horvath in Girls.
The Emmy award followed three nominations for his role as Michael Harris, the officious husband of the inn’s maid (Julia Duffy) on “Newhart” from 1987 to 1989.
