Egyptian Foreign Minister and Minister of International Cooperation, Badr Abdel-Aati held a phone call on Friday with U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff to discuss the latest developments in the U.S.-Iran negotiations following Tehran’s revised proposal. The officials also exchanged views on recent regional developments.
During the call, Minister Abdel-Aati emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to support the U.S.-Iran negotiation process and reaching a political settlement, avoiding the looming threat of war.
He stressed the need to adhere to a diplomatic approach and continue efforts to achieve understandings between all involved parties, aimed at consolidating the ceasefire, ending the conflict, and easing regional tensions.
Envoy Witkoff praised Egypt’s role in supporting regional de-escalation efforts and expressed hope for continued coordination and consultation in the coming period.
