World’s Richest People Added $1.8 Trillion in 2020

The total net worth of the world's 500 richest people has increased by $ 1.8 trillion in  2020 and is currently standing at $ 7.6 trillion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

This represents a 31% increase, which is the largest annual increase in the index's 8-year history, and means that their wealth has increased by $3 trillion since the markets fell in March.

Currently, there are 5 people (Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Bernard Arnault, Mark Zuckerberg), each of whom exceeds $100 billion in wealth, adding together $259 billion during 2020.

Although Jeff Bezos, Founder and CEO of Amazon.com remains the richest in the world, supported by the growth of the online retail business during the coronavirus pandemic, Elon Musk, Co-founder and CEO of Tesla, achieved the largest increase in wealth in 2020.

The Chinese billionaire businessman Zhong Shanshan became the richest in Asia with the support of his two companies to develop vaccines and bottled water. His fortune jumped by $70.9 billion over the past year, while Xu Jiayin, Chinese billionaire businessman and chairman of Evergrande Group was the most losing in Wealth in 2020, followed by Spaniard Amancio Ortega, founder of Inditex, owner of Zara.

Charles Koch, Chairman and CEO of Koch Industries, and Flesher Koch, wife of late billionaire industrialist David Koch among the rich who recorded the largest decline in their fortunes along with the tycoon of the U.S. Oil Tycoon Harold Hamm.
