At least four people lost their lives when a crane collapsed at a construction site in Bangkok, Thailand, on Saturday.
Rescue teams are still working to recover a fifth body trapped beneath the rubble.
The incident occurred early Saturday morning on Rama II Road, a major highway connecting the capital to the southern region of the country.
According to Thai police, four construction workers were confirmed dead at the scene, while dozens of others sustained injuries.
Authorities reported that three of the deceased were Thai nationals. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the collapse.
A witness told Thai Rath TV that he heard two loud explosions before seeing the crane fall. Workers were pouring concrete at the time of the incident.
Construction site accidents are common in Thailand due to poor enforcement of safety regulations.
In November last year, a crane collapse in Samut Sakhon, west of Bangkok, killed three workers and injured ten others. In March 2024, seven people died when a crane collapsed at a factory east of the capital.
In a similar tragedy the previous year, two people were killed and 12 others injured when a bridge under construction collapsed in Bangkok.
