A powerful explosion at a fireworks factory in central China has killed at least three people and injured 25 others, including two in critical condition, according to local emergency authorities.
The blast occurred at approximately 4:43 p.m. at a facility in Liuyang, a county-level city under Changsha, the capital of Hunan province, known for its large fireworks manufacturing industry.
Local emergency management officials confirmed that rescue and firefighting teams were immediately deployed to the scene following the explosion. Search and rescue operations are still ongoing as authorities assess the full extent of the damage and casualties.
The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined, and an investigation has been launched.
Liuyang is widely recognized as a major hub for fireworks production in China, with a long-established industry that supplies both domestic and international markets.
