Prosecutor General Counselor Hamada al Sawi has ordered referring three defendants to the criminal court over the involvement of two of them in killing a girl identified as Mariam in Maadi, southern Cairo, on October 3, while trying to snatch her backpack.
The prosecution charged the third defendant with planning the crime in collaboration with the two as he agreed to give them a microbus to commit the heinous crime, the Public Prosecution said in a statement on Wednesday.
An eyewitness had informed police of having seen two people in a white microbus; the driver and his accomplice, who managed to grab the lady's bag, when her cloth stuck into the car prompting the victim to lose her balance as her head was bumped against the vehicle's front.
An investigation team received video footage for the incident, inspected the site of the incident, and examined the body of the victim, who sustained several wounds all over her body as a result of the accident.
Investigations proved that there was a girl in the company of the victim as the two friends were talking to each other shortly before the incident. The other girl ran in fear for her life.
