France booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after securing a 2-0 victory over Morocco in their quarter-final clash on Thursday.
Les Bleus will now face the winner of Friday's quarter-final between Spain and Belgium as they continue their bid for another World Cup title.
The first half ended goalless despite France dominating the early stages. Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou produced two outstanding saves within the opening 15 minutes to deny both Kylian Mbappe and Dayot Upamecano.
Bounou also kept Morocco in the game by saving a penalty from Mbappe after the French forward had been brought down inside the box.
France finally broke the deadlock in the 60th minute when Mbappe found the back of the net, taking his tally to eight goals in the tournament to strengthen his lead in the Golden Boot race.
Ousmane Dembele sealed the victory eight minutes later with a low strike that beat Bounou, putting the result beyond doubt and sending Didier Deschamps' side into the last four.
France also became the first nation to reach the semi-fianls of the FIFA World Cup in three consecutive times.
