Two people were killed and one person was injured in a shooting at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday.

The two killed are migrants, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The suspect, who was also found dead, is believed to have directed the attack at the immigration service.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed that the attacker died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Dallas police responded to a backup request at 6:40 a.m. local time.

Early investigations suggest that the shooter fired from a government building near to the ICE office.

The FBI is considering the incident as a "targeted act of violence" against ICE.

Bullets were found near the shooter that contained "anti-ICE messages."

According to the Department of Homeland Security, the suspect opened fire at the ICE building, and a van where detained migrants were being held.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the shooter.
