119 Researchers Compete for Rabie Nasser Award

The Scientific Committee of the Award of Dr. Mohamed Rabie Nasser will announce winners of the 2019 Prize in its three fields of medical, applied agriculture and applied sciences on November 23.

The event will be attended by a number of ministers and symbols of scientific research in Egypt and members of the award jury committees.

The Board of Trustees of the Scientific Committee of the Award said that in the three branches of the Dr. Mohamed Rabie Nasser Award, many researchers from all public and private universities and research centers in Egypt applied. The number of applicants reached 119 researchers.

On his part, Mohamed Rabie Nasser, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Delta University for Science and Technology said: “The award comes in the belief of the University for Science and Technology to keep pace with the rapid developments in scientific research to develop knowledge and exploration.”

He added: "In this way we will promote development projects to the degree hoped for success, especially in its economic and developmental aspect. This will also encourage distinguished researchers a recognition of their role in the service of science and society and their contribution to the realization of Egypt Vision 2030. This will also activate the role of the university.”

He pointed out that the field is chosen in accordance with the directions of the state and serves the executive stages of the state plan for sustainable development, and to encourage young researchers in the field of applied sciences that serve the state.

Osama Rabie, Vice Chairman of Delta University said: “The university was keen to form the judges at the highest level of Egypt's top scientists in medical and agricultural sciences. The committee of evaluating the papers of the applicants for the award of young researchers in the field of applied sciences included a group of university presidents and heads of research centers.”

The scientific body of the award announced the opening of the prize for the award last January and the application continued until April this year

Mohamed Rabie Nasser Award is the largest prize in scientific research in terms of financial value and the total prize money to about 400 thousand pounds

Dr. Ahmed Abdul Rahman Shokair Professor of Urology and Dr. Hassan Abulenin Professor of Urology won the award last year as partners

This year it was decided to expand the prize to include a branch of agricultural science and a special branch for young researchers
