CAIRO, Feb 13 (SEE)- The Egyptian Archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass said he is forming a team of archaeologists, foreigners and public figures to call for Nefertit’s bust restoration from abroad.

He also urged intellectuals to join this team to guarantee getting back all Egyptian antiquities from museums world-wide.

Hawass stressed that, it’s a hard mission to get all antiquities back to Egypt.

“As antiquities were sent abroad either with foreign delegations who were visiting Egypt and take some monuments, according to antiquities act to protect national monuments at that time, or by pision method 50%”, he clarified.

On the other hand, the Egyptian archaeologist stressed the presence of a current global rage to restore each country’s stolen antiquities.

He pointed out that Greece is fighting for restoring its antiquities from London and China is urging Japan as well as other countries to give back its stolen ones.

He completed, "also French President Emmanuel Macron acknowledged taking some Egyptian antiquities illegally since France occupied Africa”.

Hawass mentioned the 5 most important Egyptian monuments currently placed in museums abroad which are Nefertiti’s bust, Rosetta stone, the Planetarium and two pieces of Hem Iunu statue; the great pyramid's designer.

He added that Nefertiti’s bust has been sent outside illegally and President of Berlin Museum was about to return it back unless the outbreak of January 25th revolution.

Regarding Rosetta stone, Hawass said it was taken by force during French colonialism and was set in the British museum.

“The Planetarium exists now in Louvre museum and was stolen by a French theif and the two pieces of Hem Iunu statue were sent abroad legally but we have to call also for their restoration”, he added.

Contrary to what has been said that Egypt lacks ability to preserve monuments, Hawass commented the country owns largest museums world-wide.

These museums are the Great Egyptian Museum, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in addition to the Nubian, Luxor and Sharm El Sheikh ones.
