Zvi Zamir, the former Mossad Chief during the 1973 October 6 War, passed away at the age of 98.
Born in Poland in March 1925, he immigrated to Israel as a child and served in the Palmach paramilitary forces in 1948.
He held various roles in the Israel Defense Forces, in addition, he was promoted to the rank of Major General and served as the head of Southern Command. He finished his army career as a defense attaché in the UK and several countries.
In 1968, Zamir was appointed head of the Mossad, and he was the head of the agency during the October 6, 1973 war.
