Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made headlines on Tuesday as he committed to Ukraine's pivotal role in global food security. During a phone conversation with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Zelensky emphasized Ukraine's ongoing efforts to expand grain corridors and revealed plans for creating alternative transport routes for food supplies.

This significant announcement follows another milestone where a Ukrainian cargo ship successfully reached Romanian waters after safely navigating through the Black Sea. The journey marks the second of its kind after Russia's withdrawal from a key grain agreement.

Zelensky gratefully acknowledged Japan’s “comprehensive support,” particularly its stance on promoting peace in Ukraine. He also extended an invitation to Japan to contribute to the organization of a "global peace summit."

Posting on social media platforms, Zelensky expressed his appreciation for the G7's recent security guarantee declaration for Ukraine, initiated under Japan's G7 presidency. He emphasized, "The time has come to enact bilateral agreements in line with this G7 declaration," and signaled Ukraine's readiness to commence negotiations with Japan in the immediate future.

Additionally, Zelensky mentioned that both countries discussed the preliminary arrangements for a Ukrainian recovery conference, scheduled to be hosted in Japan in the coming year.

By underlining Ukraine's crucial role in maintaining global food security, President Zelensky not only bolsters his country’s international importance but also lays the foundation for stronger ties with Japan, a key G7 nation.
