A number of television dramas and shows revolving around illegal immigration began cropping up as youth continued to flee their countryside villages due to social issues such as domestic violence, child neglect, and poverty.

Zay El-Qamar TV series, starring the renowned Egyptian actress  Ranya Farid Shawky, alongside talented young actor Mahmoud Yassin Jouniour and other well-known stars recently tackled one of these human stories about a young illegal and undocumented immigrant.

One of the main plotlines running through the 4 new episodes focuses on the illegal one-way journey by death boats, from Egypt across the Mediterranean sea, to Europe, particularly Italy, the safe haven in the eyes of Mahmoud, the young illiterate man, who dream of a better life and a promising future, filled with hope and determination when he leaves home and his loved ones behind to battle the waves.

Yesterday, on a televised interview on the CBC channel, the cast of the series said: "This series is about life, death, and the choices in between. It explains the reasons behind people's suffering in countryside homes, as well as the pain of living in a house where you have no right to dream. Indeed,  It is about people with big dreams, bigger than the sea."

This TV series also shed light on the several concerns that arise from having a parent that struggles with addiction. For anyone, households, where drugs are present, can be dangerous. Sadly, trends in substance abuse among countryside fathers are increasing rapidly.

Consequently, and as already mentioned above, Mahmoud's family structures have broken down and difficulties within the household lead to the neglect of their seven children.

After the overwhelming success of Zay El-Qamar, several networks revealed more upcoming new shows focused on immigration as well as addiction.
