The Disciplinary Committee of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) headed by Counselor Al Sayed Al Bendari decided to suspend Zamalek's midfielder Ferjani Sassi for 6 matches and fined him 100k EGP.

The committee handed over its decision to the EFA to approve and announce it within hours.

Tunisia international Sassi was sent off in the clash between Zamalek and Al Masry, which was held on 1 October in the 31st round of the Egyptian Premier League, and had a strong argument with international referee Amin Omar.

Zamalek had achieved a narrow 1-0 win over Al Masry in the Egyptian Premier League under new manager Jaime Pacheco.

Meanwhile, Imam Ashour was also suspended for one game and fined 50K EGP after he provoked Al Masry players after the match.

Article 23 of the penalties list states the following:

Assault or attempt to assault the referee or his assistants or any member of the technical, administrative, and medical team, the media coordinator, or the players for his team or the opponent’s team or others.

According to the regulation, these matters require the punishment of the following four points, according to what the committee decides:

1- Suspension.

2- A financial penalty of 50k EGP.

3- Elimination.

4- A fine equal to the value of the damage.
