Zamalek sporting director Amir Mortada Mansour stated that midfielder Tarek Hamed will undergo investigation over his long absence.

Hamed has been an integral part of Zamalek squad for eight years now, making over 284 appearances for the club and helping them win 10 trophies so far.

However, this season has not been one to remember for Hamed with the Whites, having missed many crucial games due to injury.

The 33-year-old midfielder only made 18 appearances with Zamalek across all competitions in the 2021/22 season campaign.

Speaking on the topic, Mortada claimed that Tarek is to blame for his long absence as he could have recovered from his injury weeks ago.

“In January, Tarek was injured and his expected recovery time was four to five weeks,” Zamalek sporting director said.

“Tarek requested undergoing medical treatment outside the club. We normally don’t allow that but as he’s an experienced player we said that’s okay."

“But Tarek took a lot of time to recover, and instead of four to five weeks, he took nearly three months to return to team training.
