Zamalek moved closer to the quarter-final of the CAF Champions League (CL) after holding a goalless draw against TP Mazembe on Friday at Al Salam Stadium
The Whites could reach the last eight if Primeiro de Agosto hold draw with Zesco in the other Group A match.
Zamalek started the game so fiercely as early as after only eight minutes when Forward Obama fired a left-foot shot saved by Mazembe's keeper
Two minutes later, Zamalek earned a free-kick and Ahmed Sayed Zizo swung it into Mazembe's penalty area where Defender El-Wensh powered home a header, which went above the right post.
The White Knights' forward Mostafa Mohamed came close to putting his side ahead in the 18th minute after unleashing a right-foot shot from the outside of the box, but Mazembe's Sylvian made another brilliant save to prevent the ball from getting into his own net.
Sixteen minutes later, Mostafa Mohamed once again met Hazem Emam's well-played cross with a great header into the bottom left corner.
The five-time-African champions are now in the second spot in Group A with eight points, headed by Mazembe, who are at the top of the group with eleven points. while Primeiro de Agosto came third with two points and Zesco came in the fourth spot with two points.
The White Knights made the worst start to their adventure in the group stage after suffering a 0-3 defeat to TP Mazembe, before defeating Primeiro de Agosto with two unanswered goals in the second leg; they held a 1-1 draw against Zesco in the third leg.
Zamalek managed to demolish Zesco in the fourth round of the competition with two unanswered goals to move a step closer to the quarter-finals.
