The Egyptian Archaeologist Zahi Hawass opened Tutankhamun museum in Curitiba city, Brazil. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the city’s mayor and the Egyptian commercial advisor Mohamed Khatib, in addition to many cultural and political figures.

The museum includes archaeological models purchased from Antiquities Ministry workshops; they reflect the story of golden-boy king Tutankhamun, the pharaoh who ruled over Egypt from 1,334 to 1,325 BC.

The museum was built by "Rosicrucian" association under the supervision of Hawass, in cooperation with Italian photographer Sandro Vannini.

The new venue houses faithful replicas of originals found in the tomb of Tutankhamun’s upon its discovery in 1922 like, models of military wheel, throne chair, canopic utensils, and a model for the pharaoh’s mummy as well as many photographs and films that show the history of the displayed relics.

The Egyptian archaeologist announced that this museum will help the return of Brazilian tourism to Egypt, stressing that Egypt is safe.

On his part, the Curitiba mayor revealed that the most important square in the city is named after the Egyptian king Akhenaten.

On the sidelines of the museum's opening, Hawass held an international press conference which was attended by many journalists. During the conference, he tackled the forthcoming opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and Tutankhamun Opera.

Tutankhamun was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who was the last of his royal family to rule during the end of the 18th dynasty (ruled c. 1334 – 1325 BC in the conventional chronology) during the New Kingdom of Egyptian history. His father was the heretical king Akhenaten, believed to be the mummy found in the tomb KV55. His mother is his father's sister, identified through DNA testing as an unknown mummy referred to as; "The Younger Lady" who was found in KV35.[4]
