Zack Snyder's Justice League arrived extra early for some HBO Max subscribers on Monday, before being removed.
The highly-anticipated, four-hour re-cut of the DC movie is not due to be released on digital platforms worldwide until March 18, but the film was briefly made available to millions due to a monumental error.
The error was discovered when subscribers attempted to watch Tom and Jerry, the new CGI/live-action movie adaptation starring Chloë Grace Moretz, but Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League played instead.
The new version was created after a fan campaign began following the release of the original film in 2017, which starred Ben Affleck as Batman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.
Snyder, the film’s credited director, exited from the project in May 2017 during post-production, following the death of his daughter. Joss Whedon, who had co-written the film’s script, took over and reportedly set up extensive reshoots.
