Israeli occupation forces reported on Sunday that Yemen’s Houthi movement launched a ballistic missile targeting Tel Aviv and central Israel. Although the Israeli Arrow air defense system intercepted the missile, fragments fell near Gezer, indicating that Israel's defense systems failed to destroy the missile completely outside its airspace, according to the Jerusalem Post.
The Israeli army is currently investigating the cause of this failure.
Initially, it was unclear who had fired the missile, with potential suspects being the Houthis in Yemen or Iran. Theoretically, Iranian proxies in Syria or Iraq could have also been involved.
This marks one of the rare instances in recent months where missiles have been launched at Tel Aviv and central Israel.
This incident follows an attack on Saturday by Lebanon's Hezbollah, which targeted Israeli military sites near the border, including the Zibdin barracks and the Northern Corps' reserve headquarters. In retaliation, Israeli warplanes targeted two Hezbollah military buildings in southern Lebanon, one of which reportedly housed party members.
